Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater Associates, emphasized the importance of diversification for investors, particularly highlighting gold as a key asset. In a speech to the Greenwich Economic Forum in Hong Kong, Dalio discussed significant economic and geopolitical risks, notably internal conflicts surrounding the 2024 U.S. elections and the differing policies of potential Trump and Democratic administrations.
Dalio noted that while Chinese assets are currently attractively priced, investors should be wary of potential negative impacts from government actions. He also recommended equity assets over debt due to central banks’ current financial positions and advocated for gold as a critical portfolio diversifier, likening it to an insurance policy.
