Platinum Kangaroo

Australia’s Platinum Kangaroo is a celebration of the continent’s national animal. The coin is produced by the Perth Mint and is one of the only single series to feature gold, silver, and platinum products.

On the obverse of the Australian Platinum Kangaroo coin is the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the sixth generation and latest portrait of Her Majesty to grace Australian coins. Designed in 2015 by Jody Clark, the design shows the Queen in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem.

The reverse side of the Platinum Kangaroo comes with a depiction of a hopping red kangaroo. The figure of the kangaroo shown here was created by Stuart Devlin and was inspired by the 1936 Copper Penny design issued before decimalization in Australia.
