Former Ukrainian military Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny declared that World War III has effectively begun, citing the involvement of Russia’s allies like North Korea and Iran in its war against Ukraine. Speaking at the Ukrainska Pravda’s UP100 awards, Zaluzhny highlighted the presence of North Korean soldiers and the use of Iranian drones and Chinese weapons against Ukraine. He urged Ukraine’s allies to act decisively to prevent further escalation.
Zaluzhny’s remarks align with his past warnings of a prolonged conflict, likened to the stalemate of World War I. Once celebrated for repelling Russia’s 2022 invasion, Zaluzhny was dismissed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in February due to strategic disagreements and his rising political profile. General Oleksandr Syrskyi replaced him, aligning more closely with Zelenskyy.
